Submissions
We accept commissioned and unsolicited pitches for essays, reviews, and dispatches. Profiles are commissioned only.
A good pitch is one or two paragraphs explaining (a) the question or argument, (b) why it is worth a long piece, (c) why now, and (d) what makes you the right person to write it. Attach two paragraphs of draft prose if you have it. We respond to most pitches within two weeks.
We pay competitively for commissioned work. Rates are discussed once we agree on direction.
Letters to the editor
Send letters in response to published pieces to editor@aiaffairs.org. Letters may be edited for length and clarity, and may be published in subsequent issues. Mark a letter "for publication" or "for the editor only" in the subject line.
