What we collect, what we don't, and why.
AI Affairs runs no third-party tracking, no surveillance ads, and no behavioral analytics. The site is a static HTML publication served from Cloudflare's edge network.
What we collect
- Email addresses from readers who subscribe to the newsletter, used solely for sending the newsletter and the publication's editorial communications. Email is processed by Buttondown (or successor newsletter provider). Emails are never sold or shared.
- Aggregate, anonymized traffic statistics via Cloudflare Web Analytics — page views by URL, referrer, country, device class, no individual identifiers, no cookies, no fingerprinting.
- Subscription billing details, when paid subscriptions are active, processed by Stripe. We never see card details. Stripe's privacy policy applies.
What we do not collect
- Cookies for tracking, advertising, or behavioral analytics (no cookies at all on the public site)
- Reader IP addresses, beyond ephemeral logs at the edge layer
- Behavioral profiles, reading time, scroll depth, or any other engagement telemetry
- Data from third-party social embeds (we do not embed Twitter, Facebook, or similar)
Your rights
You can unsubscribe from any email at any time using the link at the bottom of every newsletter. To request access to or deletion of any data we hold about you, write to subscriptions@aiaffairs.org. We respond within 30 days.
